How lead capture works

When lead capture is enabled, the chat widget asks visitors for their name and/or email before or during the conversation. Captured information is saved to your Grivo contact list automatically.

This is one of Grivo's key differentiators: leads captured in chat flow directly into your email campaign tool. No Zapier, no CSV exports, no third-party integrations needed.

Enable lead capture

  1. Go to Chatbots → [Your Chatbot] → Settings
  2. Toggle Lead Capture on
  3. Choose which fields to collect
  4. Click Save

Configure fields

You can collect:

  • Email (recommended) - Required for email campaigns. Always enable this.
  • Name - Helpful for personalization in emails and conversations.

Keep it minimal. Every extra field reduces completion rates. For most teams, just email + name is enough.

When to ask for info

You can configure when the lead capture form appears:

  • Before chat starts - Visitor must enter their info before sending a message. Higher capture rate, but some visitors may drop off.
  • After first message - Visitor sends one message, then is asked for their info before seeing the AI response. Good balance between engagement and capture.
  • Optional - A subtle prompt appears but visitors can skip it. Lowest friction, lower capture rate.

💡 Recommendation: Use "After first message" for the best balance. The visitor is already engaged, so they're more likely to share their email.

Where leads go

Captured leads appear in two places:

  • Conversations inbox - Each conversation shows the visitor's name and email alongside the chat history
  • Subscribers list - New leads are automatically added to your subscriber/contact list, ready for email campaigns

Send campaigns to captured leads

This is where Grivo's integrated approach shines. Once leads are in your subscriber list:

  1. Go to Campaigns → Create New
  2. Select your subscriber list (chatbot leads are here)
  3. Design your email with the drag-and-drop builder
  4. Schedule or send immediately
